2000 years ago, Chinese national hero Qu Yuan, drowned himself into a river due to a protest against corruption rules. After then, people sailing on the boat shaped like a dragon and beat drums so as to frighten away the fishes in the river and prevent them from biting Qu’s body. This later evolves to Tuen Ng Festival.
During the Festival, dragon boat races are held in coastal areas in Hong Kong. It has now developed into one of the well-known international sports events.
